On Good Friday at around 1 AM, men in the town of Infanta, Quezon don their “saya,” hold their “panyabat” and wear the “tukarol” as they embark on their annual self mortification of flagellation. This PDF is the accompanying downloadable version that originally appears at my Pagtu-o subsite and contains additional images not found at the slideshow.

A Ritual of Faith is my final and main photo portfolio for my Diploma in Photojournalism course at the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University. Taken during the Semana Santa or Holy Week in Infanta, Quezon, it tells of a unique self mortification ritual found only in this place.
